Christian Mehr

I first learned to cook from watching and helping my parents in the kitchen, seeing how they combined ingredients to make delicious food. I cook almost every day to expand my skills and my palate.

My current focus has been making more foods and desserts for people with dietary restrictions (grain free, sugar free, and dairy free).

I love cooking because it makes me feel happy and whole, I want to give people that same feeling when I cook for them.

When I was 16 months old, I was accidently hit in the head with a baseball bat and sustained a traumatic brain injury. I’ve struggled with stress, among a host of other things, all my life.

I found that the slower moving forms of yoga made me feel peaceful and happy, not only in my personal practice but for instructing as well, because I could keep my students safe; therefore, putting less stress on me as I guided classes.

I have over 1,000 hours of training in the healing modalities of yoga and meditation, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with places like Xcel Fitness and Naji’s Midtown Yoga.

I specialize in Yoga Nidra, Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, Hot Stone Restorative yoga, Meditation. and Neuro Somatic yoga.

The Story of Yogi’s Basket

One weekend morning Christian came up with the idea of going into business together where we would combine our two passions for food and yoga into a yummy culinary yoga retreat experience.

Christian and I were then spit balling what we should call ourselves. Yogi Life, Yogi’s Choice, then Christian said Yogi’s Basket. I asked him why he picked that name, and his response was, “It reminds me of Yogi Bear and his picnic basket, you’re a yogi and I make food that can go in picnic baskets. Heya Boo-boo, letsa go steal a picnic basket!”

We are excited and terrified and yet here we are, making our dream a reality before our eyes.
